Look Up!, Trees Part. 1

Hello everyone!!! I can't believe it has been as long as it has since I've been on here posting!!! Oh my goodness! Well, I have started a new sub-category in my "Details in Nature", section... it is called... "Look Up!". "Look Up!" features photos of nature where you need to look up. The first sub-category in "Look Up!", is Trees! So here is the new and never before seen category, of  "Look Up!, Trees"...


I took this photo when I went to White Cliff with my parents on a picnic (see full story in "Details in Nature Part. 1"). I looked up and what I immediately saw was a picture perfect scene. The tree's branches were out at lovely angles, the sun was brushing parts of the branches and the leaves, the trunk had detailing, and was off-center so it made the photo more interesting... I fell in love with it!!! So, I pulled my camera out, and took this photo... I just love the way how the sun gently caresses the leaves and the branches giving the photo a nice effect. I also love the way the trunk and part of the branches are off-center and are dark, yet I love how the blue sky just pokes out of the branches and the leaves... :)


I think that this photo represents the many levels, stages and ups and downs in life. I think that this photo represents the many levels, stages and ups and downs in life because, the branches and leaves make it look like many different levels, and the way the trunk stands tall supporting it all, is like the foundation and the beginning of it all. Because this photo is on an angle looking up, I think that it represents us, looking up, into the many branches of our lives. I think that the branches sticking out at many angles represents the leap between each level, and on each level, you will encounter a new obstacle. As well, because half of the branches are in the sun, and the other half are in the dark, it represents that life will have "ups" and "downs". Meaning that life will have it's good times, and it's bad times. I also think that the blue sky poking through the branches means that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and that if you keep on going, there's a surprise waiting for you... No matter what the times are though, if you keep on persevering, and climbing up each level to keep on going, you'll eventually get to the top. And there you will meet an absolutely amazing sight... You'll practically be on top of the world! Not literally, but figuratively. Meaning that you will be ecstatic and you will be so happy and amazed. Because if you were to climb to the tippy top of this tree, you would see amazing sights; the ocean, the sun setting, the many different tree tops and so much more.... Not only that, but you would feel the wind in your hair, the breeze on your face and the warm sun caressing you...  I'd sure love to be on the tippy top of this tree... How about you...

Hello Everyone! It's been so very long since I've posted!!! But, I'm here again. So, I took this photo when me, my mom and my dad got up really early one morning this summer, and went to Ambleside to go fishing. (Don't worry, we always release what we catch back into the ocean, but this particular trip, we didn't even catch anything. Oh well!) Back to the story though, as we were walking towards the fishing dock (and I of course brought my trusty pal with me... my camera!), I saw this amazing scene that you see before you! I absolutely HAD to take a picture of this wonderful, spectacular element of nature! The sunlight that reflected off the edge of the clouds, and the colours of the sun rising in and of themselves, were OUTSTANDING!!! I knew that I had to take a picture of it, and like many of my other posts, I was soooo glad that I had taken a picture of this wonderful moment in time...

I think that this photo represents nature and the earth, trying to break apart the "chaotic global warming layer" on top of the earth, that we humans have literally created ourselves. I also think that it represents a glimmer of hope that the earth will be able to seep into the cracks of this "layer", and break free of this never-ending spell that we humans have cast upon it. I really don't like the prospect of us humans destroying the planet that we live on by carelessly going about our days, worrying about nothing else but our everyday lives. I'm not saying that EVERY human is like that, but I'm saying that the general public is partially like that. Of course it's an exaggeration, but that's the general gist of what I believe. I wish that the earth and the human population would be able to live care free lives, and not worry about pollution, or any of the other hazards of global warming. Take a moment to envision this scenario. Imagine an amazing care free life, where people would be walking around the streets, while the air was fresh, crisp and clean. Imagine that the sky was the BRIGHTEST blue that you could EVER imagine. Imagine that the trees were a bright vibrant green, and that there were fluffy white clouds floating around the sky. Imagine a world where nobody would EVER even think of the possibility, that the earth could one day become a blob of waste, and that the earth's o-zone layers could literally dissolve. Now imagine a life where everyone would be walking around, going about their busy lives, while the earth was literally dissolving and roting away before their very eyes. Imagine that these people were trying to come up with new ideas to save the earth, but that these ideas were just sitting around, not getting put into action, while people were out making money. Now come back to realty. That last scenario that you just imagined, while I hate to tell you... but that's what I believe is going on in our world these days.....

I think that it's truly possible to get up out of this awful predicament that we have put ourselves into. I just believe that it will take people who not only want to save the earth, but that will take the steps to actually do it. I think that we are all capable of this, and that we all have it in us, it's just a matter of getting into action. Just think, if our earth rots away, what will happen to us......

Hello Again Everyone!!! 

It has definitely been quite a while!!! But, I am glad to be able to share some more details in nature. Now, this one was not taken at White Cliff... but at the forest by the salmon hatchery close to Edgemont Village! I had gone there this summer with my mom and my friend and her sister, and as we were wandering around the hatchery, we decided to walk through the forest. As we were walking around, I was taking numerous photos with each step!!! (As I have said before, I go almost everywhere with my trusted pal... my camera!!!) Now, we came across a "clearing", or what was a clearing for the forest, and I saw the sunlight bursting through the branches of the trees, and radiating against the delicate moss suspended from this one tree. As soon as I saw it, I knew that I was destined to take a photo! And, like all of my other photos, when I look back on this one, I am truly glad to have come across such a treasure!!! :)

I quite like this photo, because I love the way the sunlight caresses each fragile little whisp of moss, and the way that the golden touched moss, stands out against the deep greens of the surrounding majestic trees. When I look at this photo, I immediately feel happy and peaceful, because of the way that the light strikes only the middle of this photo. Not only that, but because of the fact that I think that it represents the unity of each and everything/everyone, and how there is a light that radiates from the center of all of our kindness and peace put together if we all became one! I think that it represents the unity of each and everything/everyone, because there are tons of tiny details in this photo, yet they all are in this photo as one. And it also represents the unity of everything/everyone because there is a tree, then there is moss on the tree's trunk, then there are branches, then there is moss dangling from the branches, and then, there is sunlight reflecting off of the moss itself. Because of this reason, it all comes together to be as one. I think that it represents a light that radiates from the center of all of our kindness and peace put together if we all became as one, because as I have stated above, I think that it represents everyone becoming as one, and because of this, we are all in unity. Now, when we all are in unity, I think that we would be able to radiate a certain "light" that would be able to penetrate any wall of anger, hatred, or anything that is not a sense of kindness, or a sense of peacefulness. I think this because if we all came together, all of our feelings of peace and kindness would over power those of all the negative ones. Take the wars that are happening at this very instant. If the soldiers from both sides could forget their feelings of hatred, anger or so on, or just focused on the ones of kindness, that the world would be able to have a bit more peace. Just think, wouldn't you do anything so that our human race could be unaffected by any wars, government issues, wrong decisions and so on? I know I would! If we are all the same "person" then why do we have all these fights amongst ourselves? It's nonsense if you ask me! We should be able to put our differences aside, and focus on the things that unite us as one! And one thing that helps to unite us (like William Shakespeare has "said" above), is nature. Now you may not all get a sense of happiness or peacefulness when you look at this photo, but I do, and if we can get that feeling from one element of nature... think of all the nature in the world!!! Wouldn't that be amazing to get a feeling like that from nature!!! Oh! I can't even contain my joyfulness!!! You may think that that's a deep message to get from a picture of a tree and a bunch of moss, but if you look beyond that... then maybe, just maybe, you might see through the same eyes that I do.... Not that any of you aren't capable of doing it, it's just a matter of trying. But... we all can...

You may notice that I made this photo EXTRA large, and you may be wondering why. Well, I chose to make it this big to really show each and every little detail that is present in this photo. For instance, the different shades of light greens, deep dark greens, dark browns, light browns and the golden-yellow color of the sunlight. As well, each and every tiny whisp, curl, and frill of moss. There are so many different details in this one, that (knowing how ingenious and observant all of you guys are...) I would like to propose another little challenge. If you choose to take it up, you will win a small (not very big at all... sorry!), prize for just participating!!! My challenge for you is to point out a little detail in this photo of mine!!! Now, to make it a wee-bit harder, I would like it if you could find a detail that I have not yet mentioned. But, if you would like to elaborate on one of the details that I mentioned, that is alright. As well, if you absolutely, positively can't come up with one of your own, then you may use one of mine (as a last resort!). :) And just think... wouldn't our kindness and peace be indestructible? Well... let's start in our own backyards.... North Vancouver. Or even Deep Cove....

Hello again!

This photo was also taken when I went to White Cliff. I was walking around through the grass, glancing around at everything, like a child walking into a HUGE candy store for the first time, with a bucket full of money. My eyes surely had a glint in them as I came upon quite a few treasures! This photo among them. I knelt down in a soft, blanket of dried leaves, and tilted my camera up. When I finished taking this photo, and I looked back on it, I immediately loved it. Almost, as much as my fungus one that I posted previously. I loved the way the moss curled up at several different places, ending in soft, velvety, little pointed ends. I also loved the way the rest of the tree and the sky got blurred out of the photo in the background. One of my favorite things about this photo though, is the way that one strand of dark browny, black moss just pops out amid all the green wisps. I also like the way the sun caresses the edges of some moss strands. I love this photo because of the lighting and the soft greens and browns, and just the way all the moss strands are curled in different directions.

In my opinion, I think that this photo represents that amid all the chaos in our world today, we can still have a peaceful set of mind and that somewhere, there can still be a glimmer of hope. I also think that it shows us how if we bend down to examine the little things in nature, we can be transported into a completely, utterly, amazing world of it's own. I think that if everyone, from one side of the world to the other, took the time to look at a small, tiny element in nature, not only would we grow more respect for our planet (and take better care of it), but we would point out what we found out to our neighbors. In doing so, we could probably find a way to relate to one and other, in a peaceful and insightful manor. Now, you're probably wondering how I'd get all that from one photo of moss stuck to a tree. Well, I'll tell you. Because the moss is clinging helplessly onto the bark of the tree, and someone could come along and pull it off at any moment, but it still radiate's it's own beauty and reflects the light of the sun, it represents a peace amidst the chaos surrounding it. And the thin strip of sunlight reflecting on it represents the glimmer of hope. When I said that it can transport us into a completely, utterly, amazing world of it's own, it can! When you look at this photo, don't you feel some sort of difference between it and where you are? And that's just when you're at a computer screen! Imagine when you see it in person! I wish that I could live in a world where we didn't have to think of all the chaos of wars, and the economy, but most of all global warming! It saddens me terribly... :( And in this photo because of that transformation between the two worlds, I think that it represents a sort of tranquility. 

Now you may think I'm crazy, or hallucinating, but I wouldn't mind. I think nature is the best way to escape all of the chaotic events that occur in this day and age. What about you? I think that if we all lived in a world that wasn't so focused on "progress", we would all be happier, healthier and above all, surrounded by nature...

Hello again!

Now, this photo was also taken when my family and I went to White Cliff. (Most of the "small details in nature", photos are.)Anyhow... I was taking snap shots when I bent down to examine the type of fungi on the bark of an oak tree. I thought that the fungi was quite neat with it's texture, colors, and just the way that it was sitting on the bark of the tree. When I looked back at the photo that I had taken, I immediately loved it! Because as you can see... the light of the sun that reflects against the crisp curved edges of the fungi, really made it look amazing. (In my opinion.) The actual print of this photo looks quite a bit better. Because the rich creams, beiges, yellows, browns and the blue of the sky, really jump out of the photo and look quite nice. What I also like about this photo, is that just behind the rim of the top of the fungi, you can see the continuous ascend of the oak tree. 

I think that this photo really represents that every little detail in nature is beautiful. Now making reference to the quote that I posted up top: it says, if nature wasn't beautiful, it would not be worth knowing, and if nature wasn't worth knowing, then life would not be worth living. Because of what I think this photo represents, I think that this quote goes well with this photo. Now, you're probably asking how it does, well I will tell you... Because the photo shows that the fungi looks beautiful with the sun's reflection, it shows that all nature is beautiful. When you think about it... when I said that I had taken a photo of fungi, your initial thought probably wouldn't have been: "Wow! How beautiful!" Now fungi is mold, mushrooms, toadstools and etc. I know that if someone told me that they took a picture of fungi, that I wouldn't think that it was too pretty. But I think that because this photo of fungi has other elements of nature in it, it really shows that every little detail in nature is beautiful.

I quite agree with Henri Poincare... I believe that if we did not know nature, then our lives would not be worth living. I think that it is really important to appreciate all the little things on our planet. As I previously said before in one of my other posts, I think that if we learn to appreciate the little details in nature, we might grow a little bit more respect for our amazing planet. And it really disturbs me how some of us don't care about the nature on our planet and take it for granted. I mean have you ever gone outside to examine a little blade of grass or one line in a piece of bark? I know that I don't do that too often, and I really wish that I did! Because if adults took the time to do things that we children do, there might not be so much clear cutting and destruction of our world! For one thing, if they were to chop down a tree, we children would probably say: "NO!!! Don't do that! You're destroying so much!" Whereas the loggers would probably think that it was just one tree that they were destroying. Yet if they had examined the bark on the tree, the leaves, and every little detail, they would realize that it wasn't just one element of nature, but quite a few.... 

There is a challenge that I'd like you to do... I'll give you one week to go outside once and examine a little detail in nature. Then, come back and post a comment on my blog saying what little detail it was that you examined, how you think that it is important to our world, and how it gives you more respect for our planet. Then, after a week, the person who best took time to examine a little detail, will win a prize. So go outside and start taking time to look around you...

Heads up for Details in Nature Section

This is just a post to explain the overall topic of my photographs this "term"...


I will be posting a photo of a little detail in nature that one could easily breeze past... I love to take photos in a different aspect and point of view. I believe that if we all take a little more time to just bend down or examine the bark on a tree... We might grow a little more respect for the planet we live on... And because we're the next generation... We could do something to change the horrible things that mankind do to our planet. We we're given one chance to start a life here on Earth... So why ruin it by just wiping out all the nature with our careless actions... Without the nature, we wouldn't be able to survive. We only have one planet and one life... So why not do us both good, by letting our nature and planet live too... Imagine if right now in the middle of reading this or doing whatever it is that you're doing, someone ran you over and you were gone... Well that's what happens to trees. The planet needs room to breathe...

Details in Nature Part. 1

My family and I went for a picnic at White Cliff in West Vancouver. I was waiting for dinner to be ready, and I had my camera with me. I take it basically everywhere I go! It's one of my absolute best companion in the world!!! I couldn't imagine not bringing it! Well anyway, I was walking along the field when I saw a patch of wheat blades. I knelt down to get a shot of them. When I was taking a photo, I realized that the background was all combined with the wheat. So I decided to cup my hand behind that one blade of wheat to act as a background. When I looked at my photo after I shot it, I realized that it could represent the simplicity and beauty of one little element of nature in the palm of mankind's hand.  


Isn't it amazing to think of all the little things in nature that one can easily overlook?  I couldn't imagine living without those little things in nature and in life itself, that are so simple yet beautiful in their own way. I believe that this represents the simplicity and beauty of one element of nature in the palm of mankind's hand, because it shows how one little blade can be so fragile and look so small against the palm of mankind's hand. Now if a blade of wheat can be fragile in the palm of our hands, imagine a forest of trees in not only our hands, but with huge mechanic machines!!! It sickens me to think of all the little things we do that destroy our beautiful planet. I'm so appalled at the grotesque manor in which mankind just wipes out the amazing things in nature that are natural and not urbanized.


 I don't know what inspired me to take it, but all I know is that when I look back on it now, I don't regret bending down to grasp one simple blade of wheat...
